武満徹の国際的評価と文化的遺産 - 世界に響く日本の音
武満徹の才能は日本国内に留まらず、海外でも広く認知・評価された。1960年代から欧米の映画祭で武満の名を耳にする機会が増え、カンヌ国際映画祭では彼の音楽を用いた作品（『砂の女』『怪談』など）が相次いで受賞・ノミネートを果たしている。とりわけ1964年の『砂の女』でカンヌ国際映画祭審査員特別賞を受賞した際、勅使河原宏監督が米国アカデミー監督賞にノミネートされると、「武満の音楽が作品の成功に不可欠だった」と海外プレスでも紹介された。
