ルーカスのデジタル映画革新｜映像技術を企業動画制作に活かす視点
ジョージ・ルーカスが映画界に与えた最大の影響の一つは、特殊効果技術の革新である。1975年、彼は自らの会社ルーカスフィルム内に特殊効果スタジオ「インダストリアル・ライト&マジック（ILM）」を設立し、『スター・ウォーズ』のために当時最先端のSFX技術を次々と開発させた。中でも有名なのがDykstraflexという世界初のコンピュータ制御式モーションコントロール・カメラである。ILMのジョン・ダイクストラらが開発したこのシステムにより、模型の宇宙船を精密かつダイナミックに動かしながら撮影し、その複数のフィルムを合成することで、それまで不可能だった高速戦闘シーンをリアルに表現できるようになった。
